Live Office best tool for my need?

I’d like to basically refresh by webi reports from excel-I might change data in the source 6 times in an hour and I refresh the business objects report to make sure the changes were captured correctly so a scheduled excel file is not what I’m looking for-from what I read Live Office is the tool that can do this. However, I’ve heard it is old technology and is being replaced with new features in 4.1. I’ve also heard even though it’s old, it’s still useful. We are updating to 4.1 in a few weeks-should I be researching Live Office or something else like publishing a webi doc as a web service? Anybody have any recommendations for me?

My take on Live Office is that it is slow and unstable. I have had numerous issues with Live Office over the years. I try to avoid it if possible. We have only used Crystal Reports with Live Office.
