Linking Two Reports in Webi Xi 3.1

I have seen various threads in this forum regarding the ability to link two reports but not many for XI 3.1. Please can someone answer my questions or point me in the right direction? I am a newbie to Webi.

I am using Xi 3.1. I have a requirement to build a number of reports. The way the reports are structured as there is one master/parent report which has a number of ‘items’ shown in column one with subtotals. Column two to column 5 are the values calculated for an item in different ways (quarter, year, previous year, budget value, etc, etc). Column 2 to Column 5 are populated for all items. Something like this…

What I need it to do (please tell me if each of these are possible and how) is as follows:

1. When I click on US Sales, it should open a new child report showing me the breakdown of US sales by states. The VALUE1 to VALUE5 columns will be present in the report.

2. The new child report should open in the same report under a new tab. The parent report numbers should stay the same and should be available to view at any time in the screen.

I have seen this post but this is not what I want…

Hi, I am using BO XI 3.1 I have report with two tabs the first tab contains the dept no and name and the 2nd tab contains detail of all departments the problem is the client wants to click the dept no in the 1st tab and the clicked dept will act as prompt for the 2nd tab and gives the the details of that paticular department Thanks in Advance dony (BOB member since 2008-01-29)

In the above post all the child reports are pre- stored within the same report under different tabs. In my case, I would want the child reports to be created and stored somewhere else. They should just open in a new tab within the parent report when the appropriate items are clicked in the parent report.

3. If the user comes back to the main report and clicks UK Sales, the same report that was opened in point number two should update to UK sales as opposed to opening another tab. (This is an ambitious requirement and I know it may not be possible)

4. Each of the other countries should be grouped under Rest of World (ROW) in the child report and should show the aggregated totals. However, the user should have an ability to see the values for individual countries within the ROW when they click ROW within that child report.

Are each of the above possible? If yes, please could you provide me some directions on how to proceed? Especially points 1 and 2.
