I have several reports which were running against a universe. I changed the name of the universe and would like to point the reports to the new universe. Nothing about the universe has changed other thanthe name it is saved as. How can this be achieved?
iâm not exactly sure on this one but i think that you can rename the universe without changing its unique identifier so you may not have to do anything if you do that possibly
but if thatâs not the case or maybe you made a copy when you renamed then youâd just go into the webi document right click on the dataprovider and do change source. if you donât have that option then you need to have different access in cmc.
then you pick the new universe and a wizard will start, which compares the original universe objects involved in each data provider with the objects in the new universe to find matches. you can then resolve and unmatched objects and override the preselected matches or discard objects included in the original query.
then you can save the query without refreshing, discard the changes, or refresh, which saves the query like option 1, but youâd still need to save the document to actually save the query.
So After I posted I poked around a bit and discovered that if I had used CMC to change the name the ID would have stayed the same and i would have never known the difference.
What I did, the wrong thing, was âSave Asâ in Universe Designer to change itâs name and then I exported it to CMC and THEN I deleted the old universe. Hard lesson. But I only had to build a handful of new reports so all is well.
Painful lesson, A Save as action generates a new CUID, as you have found.
The worst thing you could have done is deleted the âoldâ universe, as you could remediated, via one of the methods, below:-
There is a useful trick here, for dealing with the issue here, providing you havenât deleted the old universe:- https://bobj-board.org/t/106492
You could also repointed the queries in Webi, again, providing you hadnât deleted the old universe .
