LinkedIn profile links

I think the format for the URLs into LinkedIn has changed.

BOB shows this in the user profile view: http://www.linkedin.com/e/fpf/320174
And I think it should show this: http://www.linkedin.com/profile/view?id=320174

It also appears that LinkedIn no longer allows non-users (or non-logged-in-users to view even public profiles)

(that’s my ID by the way)

mh, I’m getting
“You and this LinkedIn user don’t know anyone in common”
for both links you posted…

Well that’s odd. I mean not that we don’t know anyone in common, but that it’s not at least showing my public profile.

Yeah, I just pulled this right off the browser command line.
http://www.linkedin.com/profile/view?id=320174

This version should also work (but it’s not a generic format, it assumes that folks have groomed the link. and not being in generic format is bad since it requires more storage space and allows inserting of ANY URL in the DB)
www.linkedin.com/in/kylebrazell/

Your reply suggests that you were logged in. Do either of these URLs work for you while logged out? If LinkedIn has closed their public visibility that makes them far less useful.

Kyle, your button on your profile does not work for me. If anyone can verify what we need for a public link to work, I can update the syntax…

I also tried from my cell phone (on which I have never logged in to LinkedIn via browser) and discovered that the site requires a login for most versions of the URL and also will only present a mobile version of their site, they will not present the traditional view (so my test was of limited value).

Here are a couple of LinkedIn provided helps for what the URL should look like.
One
Other

This code came from the first one.

<a href="http://www.linkedin.com/in/kylebrazell" style="text-decoration:none;"><span style="font: 80% Arial,sans-serif; color:#0783B6;"><img src="http://www.linkedin.com/img/webpromo/btn_in_20x15.png" width="20" height="15" alt="View Kyle Brazell's LinkedIn profile" style="vertical-align:middle" border="0">View Kyle Brazell's profile</span></a>

Looking in the Top Ten Postors memberlist I find URLs like this
http://www.linkedin.com/e/fpf/http://www.linkedin.com/in/marekchladny
(sorry for picking on you Mark)

So I think in addition to LinkedIn messing with their URL Scheme, we BOB users are not following your instructions on what the URL should look like.
