WISHLIST: The ability to word-wrap a legend, so I can put it at the bottom of a graph…
The names of my series are ridiculously long and with a side legend take up half the graph space! Need the legend though as my users like to be able to click the series on and off at will.
I’m on 2008 SP5. Does anybody know if this is a feature of later versions? In fact are there later versions that stand apart from Bobj, before we move into the BI4 renamed-and-rebranded offerings?
That would be nice. Also, word-wrap in list view and scorecard headers.
AFAIK, that is the last version of Xcelsius. Past that, you have go Dashboards (now Crystal Dashboards). You might try skipping to Design Studio. I haven’t had a chance to look at it yet. It seems to be a completely separate visualization and dashboarding tool. My sense is that they couldn’t find a way to separate Xcelsius/Dashboards from Flash and keep it backwards compatible, so just started a new product.
I should add that it’s perfectly possible to create clickable series on a graph without a legend. I used to do this with toggle buttons to switch each series on and off (and colour the buttons to match the series). This has the added advantage is that you can set a default of a few series on and a few series off.
But the buttons themselves take up screen space and it’s a lot of extra behind-the-scenes coding which I was trying to do away with…
Just tried to downoad that and it told me the file was created in a newer version of xcelsius - SP5. Which is what I have on my pc…
Coffee and breakfast and I will try again.
Am away for two weeks after today, so if I don’t get chance to fiddle, it might have to wait but thank you for helping!

ETA: Tried extracting the XLF and saving, then opening xcelsius and then the file, but it’s still not playing. It says it’s SP5. My pc says I have 5.5.0.0 (12,5,0,1388) which I thought was SP5…
