Learning Data Quality: SAP BODS : Data Services

Hi Guys,

My first post and obvious one.

I am trying to learn BODS Data Quality as i have to do POC on the same to my client.

With the technical manuals given SCN SAP site, i can understand the theoretical part . But i am not able to see it in terms of real time scenarios.

i would like to…

  • know from where to start for learning Data quality in SAP BODS?
  • cleanse the Belgium & French addresses.
  • cleanse Data for firms/phone numbers/(data cleansing)
  • use match for DE-duplication

Can some one help on my questions like

  1. what is the input criteria/pre-requisites to global address cleansing / any cleansing transform.
  2. What are the real time problems we face while cleansing and how to solve it.

HI,

Thanks for the help.

  1. But my imp question is what is the pre-requiste/input criteria for address cleansing/other transforms apart from installing the directories.
    which means before cleansing the address, what are the things to be taken care / set up ?

  2. If i have to cleanse address of Belgium address data, do we have Belgium specific address cleanse transform or do we need to use Global address cleanse only?

Beginners can use the Data QUality Blueprints that are provided by SAP on the SCN:

Also recommended looking at YouTube, where you can find videos provided by SAP Academy or SAP D&T Academy that also talk about Data Services Jobs and usage of data quality transforms:

After installing your Address Directory, you have to create a batch or real-time job in DS Designer that reads source data, processes the data with the Global Address Cleanse transform and writes the results to a target. You have to map the fields from the source to the input of your GAC transform (different address formats supported (multiline, hybrid, discrete) depends on what format your input has), do not forget to set the right options and parameters in the GAC transform e.g. your output standard.
Global Address Cleanse transform uses either the All World Address Directory or if installed the Address Directory Belgium (more detailled, more expensive).

OR load the BluePrint and adapt it for Belgium.
