LDAP Alias goes AWOL

Hi all,

BOXI R3.1 fp2.3

We create Enterprise accounts for users and then map them to an LDAP alias. The following has occurred twice:

Before the Enterprise account has been created, the user tries to log into InfoView. A new alias is created because under CMC -> Authentication one of the options is:

===================================
Alias Update Options
Create new aliases when the Alias Update occur

  • Create new aliases only when the user logs on
    ===================================

So if a user tries to log in with LDAP, the system will create an LDAP alias. You can’t switch this off (???)

I then created an Enterprise account and mapped it to this existing LDAP alias. I got a message saying that I was about to link an existing alias to a new account, and I said yes please.

What happens then is that the LDAP alias disappears and is deleted. I can’t create a new LDAP alias with the same name as the now deleted one because I get the error message

"This Alias already exists "

When I look for this Alias in the ‘Assign Alias’ list, it does not exist.

I have restarted the services, I have deleted the Enterprise account and recreated it and I have even removed the LDAP user from the BO LDAP directory on the LDAP server and recreated it.

Still, BOXI thinks the Alias exists but it’s nowhere to be found.

Any ideas?

Thanks.
