Issue with V6 not supported with Windows 98

Is there no way to get V6.1.a installed (client) on Windows 98?

Three-quarters of the world is still working with W98 or older, but BO would not support it anymore?

You do realize though we are in the year 2004? Must be a thing of “old” Europe :rotf: :wink:

Seriously:
Windows 98 is so flaky compared to Windows 2000 or Windows XP nor is Windows 98 supported anymore by Microsoft that every medium sized or larger business should have plans to upgrade their operating software.

You can of course try to make Business Objects v6 work in Windows 98, which would be an unsupported operating platform…

Okay, I may be exaggerating a bit. Windows 98 may not be that common anymore for business users , but worldwide there are still more users on Windows 98 than on any other version.

Version 98 second edition with all fix packs is quite a workable platform, it is in any way better than the dreadful millenium edition.

The strange thing is that in the setup.ini there are the following entries:

[Support OS]
Win95 = 1
Win98 = 1
WinMe = 1
WinNT4 = 1
Win2K = 1

Which leads me to believe that installing it on 98 should be possible.
That BO will no longer support this combination is quite another matter…

You could certainly try this…

setup.exe /v"IGNORE_PLATFORM_SUPPORT=1"
