I would bet it’s a location issue - where do you have that Excel file located, how do you refer to it in your report? I’m betting it’s not visible to BO, which is why Desk is OK but InfoView has problems.
We do that here, but I tell my users they have to use UNC naming, and that the path needs to be open to my service account - example:
We’re a XI 3.0 shop here - I know we’ve gotten Deski reports set up like this; it’s a common way for us to link our EDW to data from another source dropped into a CSV file. I think we also did some Rich Client reports that way, but I’m drawing a blank on that now.
The client reports could do this all the way back to Webi 6x, but we tried to limit client reports in our Webi environment - too hard on the servers to run the busobj processes.
