I’m contemplating migrating from 6.5 to XI3 rather than migrating to XIR2. However, I support a client that is still on XIR2. I have heard that XI3 is backward compatible, but cannot find any literature stating so, especially since the SAP website change. Can anyone tell me if there are any issues sending reports back and forth between XI3 and XIR2? Any information you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

sorry i cannot reply directly to your question, but i would raise to you that i would probably avoid doing so, as 3.0 as a differnt security model than XIr2 … and knowing Business Objects … I would not risk that on prod nor for love or money…

Well, I tried importing an XI R2 BIAR file into XI 3.0 this morning, and it failed with a spew of dependency failures.
Not good.

Has anyone tried moving content from XI 3.1 back to XIr2 viar the BIAR?
I’ve been trying it for a specific folders contants but none of the content is appearing in the selection process during the Import Wizard steps.

Just to add: only the Import Wizard (when using the XIr2 as a source and XI3 as the destination, not when using any other option) can be used to transfer information from one version to another.
