Is Xcelsius Going Away????

Hi,

With Web I adding a lot of interactivity to chart components, does the future for xcelsius look bleak???

Here is a blog post from David

no. webi requires BOBJ enterprise. 80% of the xcelsius dashboards I use do not.

xcelsius is a program that converts excel to adobe actionscript (SWF) via pretty visual components. It will still be sold as a software that can run independant of BOBJ/SAP enterprise. Can you see Webi handling dynamic visability? Interacting with other SWF files?

anyway , the new Webi (bobj 4) does look sharp. Webi 3.1 is embarrassing to present to clients.
Be happy that the presentation layer components of SAP are all coming together and will look similar. Soon, it will be hard to tell one dev environment from the other…as presented on paper.

Dont worry about your xcelsius skillset becoming obsolete.

True…but not to say that SAP will not intetgrate all these features in Web I itself…interacting between swfs is very similar to opendoc…I guess they have the tools to do it…the question is will they or wont they?

the other problem is that WEBI does not have input controls. you need to refresh the query mannualy
