Is there a BOXI 3.2 or is it just BOXI3.1 + SP2?

The SAP support note - 1287906 - How to determine the version number of an XI Release 3.x in Windows

says

Symptom

How to determine the version number of an XI Release 3.x rather than from Add/Remove Programs.

Cause
The version number shown at the application level in the Help > About menu does not get updated by the setup.exe in Fix Packs or Service Packs.

Resolution

  • Browse to the drive where you installed Desktop Intelligence.

    For example: C:\Program Files\Business Objects\BusinessObjects Enterprise 12.0\win32_86

  • Right-click the busobj.exe file, click Properties then click the Version tab.

Andrew,

I have always known 3.1+SP2, as 3.2, as per the list, I can’t remember whether you can get this as a single install.
However, it should be the same as a base 3.1install with SP2, applied.

thanks Mark, the main reason I am asking is to see what is the latest end of maintenance for XI 3.x

if you search the Product Availability Matrix for “bobj enterprise xi 3” you get

bobj enterprise xi 3.0
Availability = 10.03.2008
Mainstream Maint end =31.03.2013
Extended Maint End = 31.03.2016

bobj enterprise xi 3.1
Availability = 30.09.2008
Mainstream Maint End =31.12.2015
Extended Maint End = 31.12.2017

so it looks like 3.1 maint end has been extended by two years over what I would have expected from its initial release date

have you heard if there has been any announcement about end of life for DESKI?

Hi Andrew,

No problem :).
Support dates are, always subject to change, think how long they supported 6.0, although, admittedly, you had to pay for this later.

Controversial, I believe you will still see it in 4.0, some folks just don’t want to make the move, or are concerned about functionalities that have, yet, to make the Webi or Rich client.

Functionality would be the only issue for me. How can something be the future path if it’s not as good as the current one?

We’re a WEBI shop and there’s been a couple of reports that I could have written in Deski but can’t in WEBI.
