Hi,

 Is it possible to create a seperate pdf for each value of a prompt, when we schedule a crystal report. we are using Crystal Enterprise XI.

Thanks for posting this question! I’d like to know the answer to this, as well. I also need to know if it’s possible to create a separate PDF file for each value of a group-by field.

Hi leslieworf,

               I am still waiting for someone to answer the post. But I think the BO has no solution for this problem. There are other 3rd party software's in the market that will split one big pdf into the number of pdf's we define. But even then there we can specify only the page ranges for the splitting procedure. It would have been good if the software's can splitt by chapter ( as each master groupby cell appears as a chapter in the pdf output).

You might want to change the subject of your post, if you want people to respond, because ‘Is it possible’ probably doesn’t induce people to read the topic much, let alone answer it.

Thank you, Anjan. Another solution that SAP should implement would be to add the capability for sub-reports to generate output each time they are called. This would be extremely handy.

I have had to resort to separate runs of the report - mainly because each report has to be emailed to different departments. This means I have several reports that have to be run 40+ times all at once. (The 3rd party software you mention would not help as I do not know how many pages will be in each report.) Is that how you are handling the problem?

Also, I agree with Wahey that you may want to change or add-to the title of this post. You may get more ideas that way.

Can anyone else share their ideas on how they handle this problem?

Hi wahey,

            we have the license for crystal reports and infoview. So I do not see the publication option.

Can you elobarate your answer and tell how publication is useful for this purpose.

If you have either BusinessObjects Enterprise Professional or Premium, you have publishing already. For detailed information about BusinessObjects Publishing, search for the Publishing Guide (XIR2) or Publisher’s Guide (XI 3.0/3.1) - the SAP support portal should have them.
