Is anyone using both LDAP and SAP authentication?

We are new to Business Objects and have the WebI Reports that utilize both SAP and non SAP data sources. Ulitimately we would like to have users authenticate into BOE using their LDAP account and access both SAP & non SAP reports but we are struggling to get this to work.

If I sign on using SAP Authentication and access a SAP WebI reports, everything works fine. The Authentication Mode in the connection to the SAP Universe has been set to Use Single Sign On when refreshing reports at view time. If I sign on using LDAP authentication, I get the message that says "The SAP SSO authentication process will fail because the current user doens’t have an alias that matches the system “name of our BI entitlement system”

Can anyone help with this?

BTW, We’re using BOE XI3.1

Thanks,
Sue

Hi,
I saw your post went unanswered but I am struggling with the same issue. Did you end up resolving your issue? At this point I would just like to know if it is even possible to use both LDAP and SAP but also allow for acces to non-sap sources.

Would it be out of the question to have the connection not use the current user?

How we do it where I am, we have one user account set up who’s credentials are set for every connection. So this “BIData” user, is always the one making the database calls, instead of having each individual users rights used.

The alternative would be to assign an Enterprise alias to each LDAP user.

Import Active Directory Users
Import SAP Roles(entitlements) but dont import the SAP Users
Create Aliases for SAP Users and map them to correcponding AD users

Let user login to InfoView as AD user.

Now user can access both non-SAP and SAP data
