Installing SP1 or not?

Hi Folks,

is there a reason to switch to SP1? I havent seen a changelog, so I dont know what changes there are.

I only heard about additional errors, so my question is “is it worth it”?

Hello Rontel

Here is an article about the same:

SP1 fixed many bugs, especially related to stability and opening files, but it has a few regressions (for example, a bug with radio buttons and dynamic visibility). If you are creating a large model, you need SP1. If your model is small and you are using dynamic visibility a lot, you can work with initial version.

Hi,

There is also one big limitation where you only use one web service.

There is a workaround available where you would create your multiple web services in your original version and then migrate over to SP1.

Just thought you might want to be aware…

On a positive note there a lot of items that were fixed.

I’ve been using SP1 since it was released, and was advised by BO to install is as soon as it became available.

I’ve not come across and specific problems with it.

Ive installed SP1 and I have a big problem now.

I used it for a couple days. Then, suddenly, I got an error prompting “Failed to create empty document.”

I uninstalled it and installed 2008 (not SP1). Had the same issue.

I installed SP1 again. Didnt help either.

Any ideas from your side?

EDIT: It works now. Just had to install Flash Player again. I dont know why (I had it already). So if you guys face the same issue, uninstall and reinstall Flash Player.

It probably can’t create flash. You can try to uninstall both Xcelsius and Flash, and install SP1 again - it should install correct version of Flash.
Or try this

I have come across an error in SP1 now, I can no longer select areas within my Excel model, mouse-clicks do nothing, I have to type in the cell/range details. Quite annoying.

Do you have the same after you restart the application?
