Hi All,
I’m having a bit of a strange one here. I have a report that I added an input control to to restrict the employee. Strange part is when I saved the report and went back in the it was gone, even more peculiar the restriction had stayed in place I can’t get rid of it.
I’ve:
- re-added the box and selected All Values - nothing
- refreshed the data - still restricted
- added employee into the prompts and no restriction shows, I’ve added a different employee who has data but still the restriction applied
This happened on this same report earlier, this was my re-make of it!
I’ve changed the universe to disconnect after each connection and i’ve refreshed the universe as well. It’s an OLAP universe.
I’ve used the input controls previously with no issues, this is bizarre. Has anyone seen anything similar?
Thanks
EDIT - I’ve removed the dimension from the report, re-run the report to clear the cached restriction and then re-added the dimension back in. I’d still be interested in hearing if anything similar has happened to others though.

First Glad you figured out a solution.
I used Input controls extensively in my previous company, even using them as direct data inputs to help users easily add data to complicated graphcs and charts without editing the actual report structure.
I have only had input controls ‘break’ on my one time, and oddly it was similar to your issue. In my case I had saved the report one night, only to find in the morning that while the input control was still showing on the report, it would not function and was ‘stuck’ on a value. I’d click it and adjust the value, but webi refused to see the change. The Delete and Edit options were non-responsive. It was like the control itself was disconnected from the webi document.
I could add new input controls just fine, even one on the same object, but nothing I did would edit the old input control…
My solution sadly was to rebuild the report from scratch, and I never had another problem since.
I suspect that the actual report file had become corrupt somehow on our SAN, but had no way to prove it.
EDIT: Transposed Alerter for Input Control when typing…seems my brain and fingers currently have some connection issues…

Thanks J.
I was experiencing a number or strange issues that day, including another post of mine somewhere about hyperlinks disappering. What it appeared to be was I using the Advanced editor. I changed to Rich Client (after almost throwing the laptop out the window due to the number of times I’d re-created them) and things improved. I’ve put it down to a mixture of java and browser caching issues.
