Input Control Disappears

Using BO Web Intelligence 4.1 Launch Pad SP 9 Version: 14.1.9.2256. Can create an input control (entry field) no problem but after refreshing the report, the control disappears and left panel screen shows, “There are no input controls defined on this report…” What am I doing wrong? Have tried to save before I do refresh, but makes no difference.

Hi
Make sure you use the field in the report which you want to use it in input control.

thanks

The behaviour sounds wrong. What happens if, after it disappears you add it in again and refresh again? Try removing the object you are building it on from the query, refresh, edit query, add object back in, create input control and refresh.

Upgraded from JAVA 6 to JAVA 8 and also changed Web Intelligence Preferences to use Applet instead of HTML for both View and Modify - that seemed to work - at least temporarily. Now when I try to open a report I get the “applet initialization error.” This is becoming extremely frustrating and am not sure why it worked for 1 - 2 days and now it is really just very inconsistent. Sometimes even though I have been able to successfully change to Applet save and refresh - it will switch back to HTML and lose the input controls. Any ideas of similar experiences and work arounds would be very much appreciated.

Applet error means it is problem with java. Try to install latest version of java and check whether input controls are working or not. Have you tried in other system if the same problems exists or not?

I believe the actual advice should be to install the version of Java that 4.1 SP9 supports?

This may not be the latest and greatest version.

Correct. Ideally you’d be able to download Java from the webi server to guarantee it works but that’s not always possible.
