Is anyone getting “Report Viewer Error” while navigating in a full client report published to Corporate Documents? BO 5.0.1, WebI 2.5.1, WinNt, IE 4.0
Thanks in advance.
Thank you for responding.
“Optimize for Browser” is the option we use in InfoView. When Publishing, I schedule to BCA and do not change any viewing settings, so neither Enhance or Standard HTML are selected.
We have been using InfoView for about a month now. This was happening only on one workstation. Now happening on others. Seems to happen randomly on random reports.
I think for IE that optimized is the same as selecting enhanced viewer and the activeX document editor / report interface…
If you force the client to full java for both settings, does it get better? Can you check that and post your findings? I don’t fully trust the activeX viewer (and I mean the enhanced viewer in that, too)… - the java interface seems much more stable
Noticed one report had a file name exactly 27 char long. Changed, re-published. It and the others seem to be viewing fine on my workstation. ??? Don’t know how to force full Java.
One last thing - to change the viewer, just go to the Options screen off of the main welcome screen in Webi / Infoview… Instead of Enhanced you can select and apply the java viewer there…
Brent:
Okay - ignore the “viewing fine on my workstation” message. Just got the error again after logging out and back into InfoView. Thank you for your help. I’ve turned it over to our tech folks.
I am not able view corporate documents in the infoview, when i logged into infoview with generalsupervisor privligies. i am only able to see personal document, even i am not able to see inbox documents. Is there any priviliges i have to grant to view corporate documents.
I’m going to give you 2 possibilities. Let us know f either worked for you.
You don’t have a BOMain.key in the LocData folder on the WebI server. You can prove this by trying to log into WebI with an invalid id. It will still take you in. You won’t see the corporate docs because you can’t see the repository.
You upgraded your server from WebI 2.5 to 2.6.x. If this is true, you’ll have to delete the profile.txt files from the WebI/Storage directory tree. There was some weird bug that made 2.5 files not work with 2.6.
We also experienced this, it was just for the General supervisor logins, Support recomended that we delete the profile.txt on the WebI server, didn’t help, but the problem is not consistent - sometimes they can be seen sometimes not, there does seem to be some problem with General supervisor profile in 2.6
ps we did not upgrade from 2.5 to 2.6

Hi,
I am trying to set up a new system and when I log in to InfoView on the web I am getting a message that the database repository cannot be reached. I can get in to supervisor and create the repository within the database. So it would seem to be that my db connection is ok…
Does anyone know why this happens?
Thanks,
Nan

Nan:
When you create the repository where are you saving the BOMain key? You should be saving it to the default folder on the server since this is where webI looks for it. The BOMain key points to the repository database.
The client has got back saying there’s no way we can use Infoview. One solution we have now is to create reports using BO client, saving them as HTML pages on the server and calling them from the application as static pages. This would involve a maintenence activity in terms of refreshing the reports each time and saving as HTML pages. Your comments, please…

My presentation at the User’s Conference this year contained a macro which automatically refreshes a series of reports that are then saved into HTML. The name of the presentation was “How to Provide Drill Across Report Functionality to your Users.” A copy is on the Business Objects web site (go to Events/User Conference/Track Sessions) and also on my Web Site (www.LyonTechnologies.com) under ‘Freebies’.
Let me know if I can help further.
