Infoview Starting & Installation

Hi All,

I am very new to WEBI. The scenario is:

  1. I have Windows 2000 Server , and Service Pack 4 Installed
  2. I have installed BO 6.5.
  3. I created a cluster
  4. I added an Application Server and Web Server under Infoview
  5. I am trying to access the Infoview on the server itself not from a client
  6. I have copied BOMAIN.key in locdata folder
  7. I am using IIS server for Infoview

All the services are running, and I can see BO Server Started Icon on my task bar.

Problem 1: When I open Infoview, I see a page with login button. When I click login, it DOESNOT display login page, but shows lots of CODE. Why this problem happening.

Problem 2: Do I need both Application Server and Web Server, if I want to use Infoview and Webi from this Machine only?

Thanks.

welcome to B  B

“but shows lots of CODE.”

could you be more precise and give us the exact error message.

I suppose you are using webI asp files (iiss application server)
I think they are someting wrong in the IIS configuration

No Error Message, but instead of executing ASP code, it display the code behind login page.

Can anyone help me on this please?

Try restarting your IIS and your Machine.

I restarted my machine and IIS. Even I tried infoview on Apache Tomcat, removing from IIS. Still no luck. It shows the code.

Does it has to do something with JRE?

Also my problme 2 if someone can help me out on that as well.

Thanks.

you just reconfigure your clusters and restart your machine. This happens if your clusters not getting properly configured.

Rajasekar :india: (BOB member since 2004-07-16)

I did that. Still same error. Do you want me to consider some points while configuring Cluster?

Thanks.

If your not disturbing your current environment. Then you delete your cluster and then recreate the cluster.

Let me try that (deleting the cluster) and I will get back with result tomorrow.

Thanks.

Have you got the required connection to the repository on the webi server i.e TNSNAMES.ora for Oracle or System DSN for SQL Server etc? i.e ACn you log into Supervisor on the Webi box

irish_stan :ireland: (BOB member since 2003-05-13)

You mean to say create a secured connection on WEBI Server?

One more thing:

  1. Oracle Server
  2. BO Server
  3. Webi
  4. Application/Web Server

All are on same machine.

Any advise…

Thanks.

ggind (BOB member since 2005-10-03)

Yes what I meant was does the TNSNAMES.ora file on the server have an entry for the Business Objects repository. It seems as though you have. What permissions do you have set up for the webi services?

irish_stan :ireland: (BOB member since 2003-05-13)

I have administrative privilages.

Pleade advice

Thanks.

I don’t think this will help with your current problem - but if you’re saying that your Oracle database is on the Business Objects server, you may have problems getting WebI to work. Ideally they should be on different machines.

Is this mandatory?

Thanks.

I don’t have access to the Business Objects support site, so I’m not certain - but I don’t think it is supported. From experience - it may work, it may not. I wouldn’t put my production system on it, but I guess it depends how robust it needs to be.

Was any one able to crack this?
