In list value separator...

X-cc: Denise Olson DENISE@DUNNSYS.COM

Is there a configuration file somewhere that will allow you to change the delimiter between items of an in-list prompt from a semi-colon to something else? The semi-colons are causing problems when the value is passed to an Oracle stored procedure.

Thanks in advance,

Sean,

The in-list separator is controlled by your windows settings at the time of BusinessObjects launch. You can change the delimiter to commas by:

  1. Opening your Control Panels
  2. Opening the Regional Settings
  3. Choosing the NumberTab
  4. Changing the List Separator from a Semi-Colon to a comma.

Robert,
While trying your suggestion I find that my list separator is aleady set to a comma rather than a semi-colon. However, when I run a BusinessObjects report that has a prompt for an in-list condition, the selected items are separated by semi-colons. Is this a bug or ??? Thanks,
Sean

If you use a prompt for the list values, then the delimiter is hard-coded to a semi-colon. The list separator in the control panel only affects the query panel. This is a known issue (has been since v4.0).

When you say its an issue, does that mean that you are STUCK with semicolons?

In our world we use commas for the IN statement and have the users type in commas to separate things like numbers

then we immediately tell people to use semicolons for other items… it becomes difficult to sell that… this is common?

Just doing a sanity check, but I am doubting mine…
