Import Wizard performance issue

Hello everybody,

we are currently migrating from BO XI2 SP2.6 to BO XI R3.1 SP4. Old system are a cluster with 3 servers, Win Server 2003, 8GB RAM, new cluster are 3 servers with Win Server 2008, 16GB RAM.

During Import Wizard Progress we are facing enormous performance issues while creating folders and copying objects. One object needs ~5min up to 20min. We did some tests to copy files from FileStorage to server without IW, DB performance test…, everything seems to work fine. During tests realized, that the bottleneck only could be the old source server (cause we tried an IW with an other source system, no issues).

We traced IW and found out, that after some progress IW tries to ping all Input and Output servers on old system every minute. That´s the point, when the performance issues arise.

Hopefully you have any suggestions regarding this issue.

Best regards

Can you put both filestores on your new box? Do a copy while 2.6 is down, point filestore to the new server, run in that configuration during the upgrade??

What about doing a copy of filestore, use your database and do an import to a new repository, then upgrading in place - do all the heavy lifting on this new box??

Hello everybody,

we faced the issue! On old servers we had an 100Mbps LAN Connection. New servers have 10Gbps. So after we increased the LAN connection to 1Gbps, Import Wizard works fine and fast.

Thanks and BR
