Import Wizard not migrating all instances from R2 to R3.1

I am working on a project to migrate our XI R2 SP3 environment to XI R31.1 SP2 FP 2.4. I have built a new server, and did a new install of the BOXI product, set up new directory structure and set up new security system utilizing custom access levels.

Now it was time to migrate the contents from XIR2 to XIR3. Used Import Wizard to migrate a folder and schedules. The process worked, however, for many reports previous instances and recurring schedules did not migrate. What is puzzling, is that during the import when I continuously refreshed the webi, I could see the number of instances increase for the given report, and then at the last second drop to 0.

Has anyone experience this issue during your migration?

Thanks for your help!

Just a silly question. Did you check the chevron “Import all the instances” during the migration using Import Wizard?

LOL, yes. I became an expert in the Migration Wizard while troubleshooting this issue. I worked with several SAP engineers and their senior level guy said he things this is a bug.

Spasibo!

Well, I finally figured out what is happening. Hope this will help someone who is struggling with this issue, and does not miss the migration deadline as I did!

So, the long story short: in our current environment (XIR2 SP3), we have Auditing turned on. This caused the report instances to be there, even though report creator checked off "Cleanup instance after scheduling ". During the import process, the instances were brought over, but then removed because of this checkmark.

It only took me one month to figure this out.

Hi Trigor,

Does it mean I should turn off the audit in BOXI3.1 when doing the migration?
I check the current BOXI2, there are 2004 objects (w/out instances). However when I do the test (migrate the objects to BOXI3.1, left only 1845 objects. not sure what had happen :frowning:
our authentication is windows AD

We are going to migrate BOXI2 to BOXI3.1 next week.
