Import Universe from BIAR

Hi

I’m using the import wizard to import reports and their universe from a BIAR file.

At the screen where the universe should be displayed for selection, I am not getting any universes shown. (The reports and folders show fine)

I have tested the BIAR file on another system, using the exact same import options, and the universe is showing for selection, so it seems that the BIAR file is correct, and it is a problem with the environment.

I am using BO XI Release 2. I have seen this problem before, but I can’t for the life of me remember how it was resolved. But I’m fairly sure it was a BO quirk/bug, and not something wrong with how we are importing the BIAR file.

Has anyone encountered this issue?

Import Wizard behaves like a piece of crap unless you are at least on SP2(for XI R2). Probably, the machine you are running Import Wizard on isn’t on SP2. That could be the problem.

I have checked the installation, and we have sevice pack 2 installed.

Do you have any other suggestions?

Based on my past experience, BIAR is not very reliable. I got burned before and had to go back to a much older BIAR to bring back a report (only if you create BIAR on a regular basis).

For Universe archive, the best way is to save the one in your Application Data folder path.
