So far, SAP/BusObj hasn’t certified support for IE8, but of course we expect that folks will end up with it regardless of what we tell them to do! I’ve done some cursory Deski and InfoView testing on a PC with IE8 and don’t see any different behavior than under earlier versions of IE… has anyone done any more thorough testing, or found particular things to watch out for?
Just thought I’d share that with our XIR2 SDK application we’ve found an issue when making opendocument calls and passing a token. The report apparently starts to run but in a few seconds we get an “object cannot be found” error from BusObj. Probably won’t see any follow up from me since it’s not supported but thought I’d put it out there.
In general IE8 testing at home I have noticed IE8 has a slight memory leak as the memory usage goes up as its used and then sits idle.
Keep and eye on this closely as it will lock up a PC once its consumes most of the physical memory. Happened once for me when I left a browser session open overnight.
Our client recently upgraded to IE 8. No problem with Infoview. However, to do testing on considerable number of role, we switch user’s role in CMC. When we do that, clicking on any report in the InfoView, re-logging occurs and and resets the user’s role back to the original roles. New roles are not maintained. Does any one have ideas how to prevent this re-logging?
The supported platforms document for XI 3.1 SP2 does list IE8 as supported, but a footnote indicates that “Only Compatibility Mode supported.” Does anyone know if XI R2 will be rated to support IE8?
One of my XI R2 customers already pushed out IE8 without regard to support. Ditto for Java 1.6, which is only supported on XI R2 SP3 and higher…
