Hi Guys
I created a report with an hyperlink linking it to a child report. I’m passing a business group as a prompt to the child report.
The hyperlink works well in WebI but is truncated when the report is scheduled as an Excel file.
I suppose that this is coming from the 256 characters limitation in an excel column.
Does anybody know anyway to overcome this?
PS: I am using WebI XI R2.

Hi
I had the same issue and it’s definitely to do with the character limit. I saw a suggestion on here about making your prompts much simpler e.g. instead of “Date From:” just use “DF:” or something to get the length of the resulting link shorter. This will work unless your “linked to” report is used somewhere else and you need the long prompts.
It’s a pain but unavoidable

Actually I could get it working by using the DocID parameter to point to the child report rather than the Doc Name.
Hyperlinks are now active in both XLS and PDF format.
Generally speaking, looks like using the iDocID is more reliable.

Brining this issue up again since I am experiencing it again in XLS.
My hyperlinks are more than 256 char and that seems to be the issue.
Any work around anyone (apart from shortening the hyperlink)?

Long Path Tool could help you out to overcome this problem.
