"HTTP Status 500 - " when trying to Log On to BI l

Hi there,

I am having issues with one of the BO servers. There is an existing SAP BO BI 4.0 SP4 installation and when trying to Log On to BI launch pad, I get the following error;

HTTP Status 500 - com.wedgetail.idm.sso.ProtocolException: com.wedgetail.idm.spnego.server.SpnegoException: com.dstc.security.util.asn1.Asn1Exception: Bad tag encountered: 78

Scouring through forums, I have already tried;

1.Stop Tomcat
2. Deleted the content within the localhost of work directory inside tomcat folder. ( ex. folders under \installation drive\Business Objects\Tomcat6\work\Catalina\localhost)
3. Restart the tomcat.
4. Wait till the localhost folder is repopulated.

Unfortunately, did not work.

I have also tried to run the Repair option from Control Panel > Uninstall/Change.

Unfortunately, did not work either.

Has anyone else conceured a similar problem without having to uninstall and do a clean install of the 4.0 SP4?

Many thanks in anticipation!

A) Did it ever work?
B) Which exact patch level are you on? Current is SP4 with patch 12 or SP5 with patch 6.
C) Are you using SAP SSO or Win AD SSO?

Thanks for your response Andreas.

I have just taken over the role, the previous person has retired and I am unable to answer whether it worked at all.

With respect to patch level, I am unsure other than 4.0 SP4, how could I check?

There is a previous installation of XI 3.1 on a separate server used a production, that is using a Win AD SSO.

I would imagine that the intention for the new server is to use Win AD SSO.

Thank you!

In case anyone else encounters this error, here’s how I resolved the issue.

I was able to log on to BI Launchpad and CMC via SSO from a remote machine. However, on the BIP 4.0 server, I kept getting this exact error when accessing the BI Launchpad, but still logged in successfully into the CMC.

SAP has the solution in KBA 1799488.

Reason:
Single sign on does not work by default on the Web application on the server machine.This behavior is by design as the servers are unable to pass Vintela filter.

Resolution:
Use the following URL to access BILaunchPad on the server: http://hostname:8080/BOE/BI/logonNoSso.jsp

You may want to modify the BI Launchpad URL properties (from Start Menu) to use that ‘logonNoSso.jsp’ as well.

Hope this helps!
