We have migrated universes from 6.5 to XI. Since in 6.5 universes had a long and a short name, after migration to XI the short name is also migrated. Most of the reports that were migrated are also pointing to the short name of the universe. Now if I do a save as on the existing universe to make a copy for diff environment, it does keep the same short name on the copied universe and the existing reports start prompting for choosing from the two universes. Is there any way to remove the reference of the short name from the newly created universe?
Thanks for your reply but this not what I am lookng for. When I do save as, the universe short name is being copied over because of migration from 6.5 which is causing the reports to prompt now for selecting universes.
The save as will give the universe a new ID, why don’t you use copy and paste, then rename the file instead. You could also move your universe to the new environment by using a BIAR file.
I just logged a call with SAP BO on this issue, as we have been copy/pasting changes by hand to get around this. This cannot be sustained when moving to an ASD environment where the dev team is no longer responsible for deployments.
Please let us know if anyone has gotten around this issue.
Two universes with the same short name had different security but the security wasn’t kicking in because of the same short name. This has information about changing the short name after the fact.
Unfortunately, if you do the same sequence of events that caused duplicate short names in the first place, you have to change the short name again.
My understanding is that the short name is NOT a problem in XIr2 SP 5 and higher…but we’re not on that so I can’t confirm.
You have to log into SAP Vendor Support. I just logged in and then tried to go to Help & Support, Search for SAP Notes, and got a “server unavailable message”. I was going to post the link but since it’s not available, I can’t.
If you don’t have SAP vendor support, you won’t be able to get to this.
