how to test a client node?

Hello,

I need to configure a client node for 2 tiers applications around BO.

My configuration:

  • a webi server 6.5.1
  • a another server with the client node.

the client node seems to be well configured. The test to reach Primary Server is OK in the configuration tool. But tiers applications can’t reach it, and I’m almost sure that they are OK.

Is there another way, apart the configuration tool, to test if a client node is OK?
Command line, URL, …

Thanks

Hi !
What do you call a client node ?
A cluster node ?
In that case, you should see it in the Admin console…

I think that a client node is not the same than a cluster node.

When installing with Configuration Tool on the Second Server

  • You choose ‘Custom’
  • It creates a cluster ‘MyCluster’, by default
  • When define ORB, you choose : Node type = Client

No processes are running under a client node. It’s just a way for tiers applications to communicate with the webi server

So what do you mean by

  • a webi server 6.5.1
  • a another server with the client node.

The webi server is a client node already. I do not understand.

Sorry

I’m going to make some assumptions and jump in…

After you configure the node, reboot the whole cluster - manager first, then the node as the manager comes back up. After that, get onto the manager server and start the administrator tool (red ball on status bar).

Here you can configure what is running on your new node, what kind of weighting to apply (eg, users to hit the node compared to those working on the manager). I will also let you see what servers your users are “working on” (look at the list of logged in users, it will show the server they are attached to).

That make sense? The configuration tool sets up communication between the servers and their roles (master, node, client node). The administrator tool sets up the processes the nodes run and all their parameters.

You have to do both configurations in a clustered setup.

Good luck,
Brent
