how to speedup webi reports running on top of bw queries

hi all!

i would just like to know if there is a way to speed up reports running on top of sap bw queries. because it really takes time to run the reports and when i’m drilling, oh man! it’s a nightmare.

Is it slow when you do the same thing with out WebI.

If it’s slow, it likely isn’t BO’s fault.

yes, some of the queries itself are slow… and regarding this matter, all of the clients that i worked on having SAP Cubes or queries, it seems it’s all slow, especially when drilling down. is this the cause of poor cube design? i really need this because they’re blaming us Bobj guys when the report is running slow.

When you drill on relational data sources the data is retrieved into the report and drilling is done locally. My understanding is that when you build a report on a cube, everything goes back to the cube when you drill. I was also told that operating on a cube is much slower than operating (querying) a BEx query.

There are performance improvements in 3.1 and in service packs to be coming out in the coming months as well.
