How to re-import reports

Hi everyone!

I am new to the CMC and I looked in the admin guide and on this forum to find this answer, but nothing. please help me

I have a bunch of reports scheduled (around 50). I want to change something on one of these reports, what can I do to “re-import” it?

the only way I see is to delete the current report in the CMC, do my change in the report on my local PC, import the report again in the CMC and reschedule it!!! but this can’t be the only solution!

  • i don’t see any option in the CMC that let you re-import the report, and if I import the same report, it will give me a (2) version beside the first one, so the problem is still the same.

Please I need some help, thanks!!!

Do you want to make a change on the report or report scheduling options?
If it is report change: Open the report in InfoView (if it is webi) and make the change and save it. When the scheduler runs next time, it automatically picks the new report.
If it is deski report, make the change on the report and export to the same folder with the same name.
If it is the change on the scheduler:
you can go InfoView and open the recurring instance and make that change. Don’t fotget the check the “Replace existing schedule”

hope this helps

Hi guptha,

I don’t have webi, so I guess it’s a deski report because I’ve created it on my PC.

When I try to do : " make the change on the report and export to the same folder with the same name. " -->

here’s how I did it : I right click the report in the CMC, chose “Manage”, then “Add” then “Crystal reports”. Now I select the report I’ve changed and click ok.

Error message : Could not commit object ‘Report changed TEST’ of type ‘CrystalReport’ because another object with the same name already exists under object ‘TEST’. (FWB 00026)

That’s my problem, it doesn’t crush my old report with the new one. I am the admin on the CMC and the only user for now.

Is there something I can do about it? thanks

Sounds like you got a Crystal report, not Deski

Open your updated report in your Crystal Reports designer (the tool you used to create it and update it) and in there you should see a button to connect to your repository or something like that. I don’t have Crystal Reports atm. so I don’t remember exactly.

This should allow you to log on and see all reports on your BOE system and then you can save this report to the repository and replace the existing report with your updated version

HI,

Your solution worked! I would have never found this on my own!!!

So if you want to make a change in a report in the CMC, you open your Crystal, do your change and save as --> in the “save as” screen you have at the bottom left the icon “Enterprise” where you can connect like the CMC and you should found the same folders that you have in the CMC. Then you just have to find the same report and save it. It will ask you if you want to replace it and you say YES!!!

here you go

P.S. if the report was scheduled, the report will be replaced and the scheduled will stay!

thank you Josh!
