It’s pretty straightforward… Select the option labeled License Keys (from CCM), then enter your new key, and “Add” it. That should be it.
You may have to re-start or enable all your services (or do a reboot), but this has worked for me in the last week or so…
Good luck!

Just one small correction: changing the keycode can only be done through the CMC (or using the command line if you really need to), not the CCM.
CCM = Central Configuration Manager - the windows tool to ‘manage’ your services
CMC = Central Management Console - the web-based application to control your BO system (users, folders, keycodes (!) etc).
Like bdouglas said, you may have to remove your old keys before entering the new ones. And you dont have to hit ‘apply’ or anything, they immediately take effect.

Orange is right - I’m horrible with the new acronyms!
Much luck,

Yes, My concern is that I could not congigure CMC as my servers not enabled during installation. Now I need to change the licence keys via CCM (Central Configuration Manager - the windows tool to ‘manage’).
But thanks for the clue to change it from command prompt. I am looking for the command to change it from command prompt.
Do you have the steps to change it from command prompt?
Thanks,

Even though your servers are not enabled, your CMS will always be enabled (it cannot be disabled) and your web/app server has no enable/disable option. So therefore, you should be able to get to your Admin Launchpad and then to the CMC where you should be able to enter your keycode, followed by the enabling of the servers.
This is the preferred way. If this doesnt work, then something else is wrong. Can you tell me what goes wrong in the above process for you?
I have just tried the command line option (there is an ‘addkey’ parameter discussed in the admin guide) but that gives me problems. I’m sure it worked fine in CE10…

It should also be possible to change license with a script

Hi,
we also have a problem with the license key. The license is expired. We have a new key. Question is: How to apply the new key?
We cannot login into CMC anymore! The reason is: The license is expired.
What is to do?
regards and thanks,

I had an evaulation Licence Key in DEVT which expired and I was unable to apply a new licence key through the CMC , clicking the button displayed a message "your licence has expired "
I had to find the Registry entry on the Server and change it manually first, entering the new vaild key. I was then able to get to the Licence Key options in the CMC, delete the old entry and enter the new key.

Although I have not tried it myself, according to BOBJ, you can ALWAYS be able to log on to CMC to update your license key. This is the minimum access capability.
Are you saying that it is not true?
By the way, psjkxp, I don’t think your signature is appropriate as this is a professional forum.

Thanks for the tip with the registry; I will try this ‘as a last change’…
to substring:
We cannot login to CMC with our administrator account.
We get:
All of your system’s 0 Concurrent Access Licenses are in use at this time or your system’s license key has expired. Try again later or contact your administrator to obtain additional licenses.

I had a similar message and was not able to do anything on the CMC.
When I entered the new valid licence key into the registry manually , it’s clear text, I was able to change it properly from the option in CMC.
As for my signature … I assure it’s through 14 years of professional experience of BO that I make the claim !
Moderators … if it’s a problem let me know I’ll change it .

Thanks psjkxp!!

we were able to work this out together with BO’s customer support.
Here the trick:
When you install BOXI the installation automatically creates a user with the id Administrator .
When the password expires you need to use this account to logon into CMC. You cannot use another account, even when this other account has administration rights.
Fortunately I wrote down the password for account Administrator and - more important - I found the piece of paper where I wrote it down

That is the minimum access that I was talking about. I forgot to mention it requires the administrator account because I assumed you have already tried that one.
Just a side note. You need to have at the minimum one backup person who also knows the administrator password…just in case you got hit by a bus or something.

I have just had this issue today. If you do not know your default Administrator password (or as in my case the previous person left without writing it down) do the following
Hope this saves someone many hours of head scratching

Should all else fail, one could always reset the defailt Administrator password using the standard SELECT * FROM CMS_INFOOBJECTS5 …
srinivasg (BOB member since 2006-10-11)
Just to confirm the solution regarding deleting line 12 or 13 from CMS_InfoObjects5 to reset the Admin password does work if you delete objectID 12 AND 13
Although the usual caveat about modifying db files still applies
irish_stan (BOB member since 2003-05-13)
I have checked on XI R2 SP2 with objectID 12 (MySQL and Oracle 10g); it does blank the Administrator password.
srinivasg (BOB member since 2006-10-11)
I’m sure it does work, but you have also just deleted another object from your system database - you may not know it just now but it will come back to you at some point in the future. I can only recommend my solution as explained here (XIr2 Password reset for admin account) which will work in all cases.
