Other than cloning, I couldn’t add Adaptive Job Server through the add server wizard in CMC. Can any one suggest how to do it?

It’s not called Adaptive Job Server in the drop down list - I had the same issue recently but I can’t recall which of the options created it so do what I did - try all the options until one is created
I think it was one of the job or processing server options under Webi …

I tried all possible options but couldn’t find adaptive job server, I cloned the existing AJS on the other node to this node and changed the host name in the destination node. Now its running fine…

It’s “Web Intelligence Scheduling and Publishing Service”.

Joe,
Thank you for this info! I did not find this in any of the BO manuals. Consistency in naming is not a SAP/BO strong point.
Thanks again,

That’s because you don’t understand the difference between a server and a service.
The Adaptive Job Server (AJS) is a container that hosts services. One of the services that it hosts is the “Web Intelligence Scheduling and Publishing Service”.
The CMC gives a list of services that you want add, so that’s why you didn’t see the AJS.
A server that doesn’t host any services isn’t useful. So saying that you want to add an AJS to your system isn’t specific enough, you need to know which services you want to add.

Thanks ErikS. I am aware of the difference between a Server and service. I’m in the process of becoming an expert at R3/V4. The install for R3 creates a “Server Name” called .AdaptiveJobServer. I am trying to resolve a scheduling error (FWM 01002) for which one of the recommended solutions is to delete/recreate this AdaptiveJobServer. SAP NOTE 1651140 which specifically states:
Resolution
Log on to CMC->Servers->Service Categories->Web Intelligence
Delete the Corrupted Adaptive Job Server.
Recreate a New Adaptive Job Server.
Being newer to BO XI 3.1/4 and having a SAP Note be so specific on how to do this, I (along with Others) would assume that “Adaptive Job Server” would show up in the drop-down. I do not assume things often but when then vendor has the steps specifically listed… perhaps in this case they should have taken it one step further and added
4) Select Web Intelligence Service Category
5) Web Intelligence Scheduling and Publishing Server?
6) Select Destination Configuration Service
In the end unless one knows to name it “Adaptive Job Server” you end up with a server called .JobServer.
This is what I meant by Consistency in naming not a SAP/BO strong point. Without consistency you also lose intuitiveness.
Am I completely missing something? Is there a different method for recreating an Adaptive Job Server?
Thanks for your feedback.

Thanks for replying tmcd.
I believe that the SAP Note is trying to be very non-specific, which is what makes it difficult to parse.
The note is trying to not make assumptions about what services you have in your AJS. Because this is a WebI problem, we know that the AJS is hosting a WebI service, but it could also be hosting others.
You’ll probably want the new AJS that you create to contain exactly the same set of services that the old one contained.

Hi All,
It say need Web Intelligence Scheduling and Publishing Service to add adaptive job server, but my CMC only have publishing service. Web Inteligence is not in the services list.
How do i encounter this?
