In the CMC go to Servers–>CMS and you should see who’s logged on on the properties tab.

But there is some problems with the count of opened sessions. See this topic.

Thru a browser, I’m logged in as administrator, but the CMS has a red arrow, meaning it is stopped, but when I try to start it, I get a message that it is already in that state… So I can’t click on it to get properties.
When I go into CCM on the server, CMS is running. But the properties tab here does not show users, or count of sessions.

I’ve seen what you’re describing. The CCM seems more reliable in terms of status (running vs. stopped), so I always defer to whatever it says. The CMC doesn’t seem to always have real-time information, for what it’s worth.
An alternate way to check if the CMS is up is to go to Administrative Tools | Services and look for Central Management Server. It should give you a status there, as well. I think the OS has a better idea if the CMS is currently up/down than the audit database, as it gets more timely information.
I haven’t found a way to accurately monitor the number of current sessions, as the information in the audit database seems to be about 5 minutes behind current actions.
