How connection switches nodes in Oracle RAC?

Hi,

How do I make the web intelligence report work when the oracle instance the universe connection is on is shut down.

Ex: when I create a web intelligence report and run it, from the database backend I can find out what node of the oracle 10g database RAC the connection is on for example the if the BOUniverse connection is on node 1 then if I shutdown the instance of node1 then when I refresh the web intelligence report it gives me error but I would like the connection to switch to node 2 since node 2 is up and running and give me the results. I made change to the BOUniverse connection to 'Disconnect after each transaction" but that would switch nodes only if the service is shutdown and not the instance.

I would like to know how can I successfully switch to other RAC node if the instance of its original node is shut down?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Would the database not automatically switch the connection to use the next available node?
I would be interested in knowing this too!

Yes, it would not switch the node if the instance it was on is shutdown.

Speak to your dba, the nodes should switch which is the one of the principle of Load Balancing.
