Host File Location

Can anyone tell me what directory I can find the Host file?

I am running DI on a Linux OS and my DBA made a change to my Host File and now my license information cannot be found and it is telling me that my Jobserver is not license. (He is out for the rest of the week, otherwise I would ask him)

He told me that he made a change to the Host file because the host file was calling for the Fully Qualified Host Name, but returning the Alias Host name instead. Is this possible?

Thank you for your time.

NoDak7,

I am a bit confused but to answer your question, the host file is usually found in the /etc directory.

That said, your Business Objects license is not located in the host file. The host file only includes IP addresses. Your Business Objects license should be located in the install directory and you should be able to see in ccm.config.

Hope this helps.

Thank you for your reply, I appreciate your time!

I could be wrong here, but I think you are thinking about Business Objects Enterprise, I am talking about Data Integrator.

I don’t believe that DI has a CMS ccm.config file…right? Or have i been staring at the monitor too long. : )

Where do I find the license infomation?

Thanks,

I think I need to go here for the License information:

$ cd $LINK_DIR/bin
$ . ./al_env.sh
$ LicenseManager

This tells me if my product is licensed or not. Can someone tell me where the License file is located?

Thanks

check in $LINK_DIR\License directory
there will be file with .lic extension

Thank you Manoj!!

Came to find out that it had nothing to do with the Host file. It was a license issue, so thanks. FYI, if your MAC address does not change then it doesn’t matter how many times you change the system name it will not affect the .lic file.
