Hi All,
I have encounter problem and could not find any workarround - I can’t make any drillingdown in Desing Studio 1.2/1.3 on dashboard based on Universe with Oracle connection. I know that officially it is supported for Bex or Hana connections, but anyone have found any solution how to enable Hierarchy or make possible to drill down in DS
for dashboards based on Universe connection? Thanks,
Marcin
I’m having this problem too. My UNX universe has a defined navigation path. If I create webi report, I can drill down four levels easily.
In Design Studio, I can create a data source with the objects defined in the navigation path. The data displays in the live preview. Each dimension has ATTRIBUTES and HIERARCHIES underneath it but when I click on them, there is nothing underneath.
Tried this with both oracle and sql server (in separate single-source UNX) and can’t get it to work with either.
Sorry for this frustrating comment. When will these m_r_ _s at SAP learn.
Before suggesting a product atleast complete it.
Design Studio was initially designed to create dashboards from SAP BW. Why do not they understand that not every company runs SAP BW or whoever can afford that can afford a dedicated resource and a dedicated toolset like Design Studio or Analysis for OLAP. Also Analysis for OLAP can be used for reporting against SAP BW or SSAS or Hyperion Essbase which are readymade OLAP Databases.
Why try to force these products for normal RDBMS. Most of the companies over CLoud or inhouse run normal RDBMS like SQL Server, ORacle, IBM DB2, Sybase etc. Using Universe, Webi for reporting seems a nobrainer selling point. But for Dashboards aka visualization buzzword that is missing.
For Dashboards against normal RDBMS like SQL, Sysbase, Oracle, IBM DB2 they should have first focused on completing Xcelcius by buying xdecision stuff to reduce flash limitation and the excel 5000 row limit. these are companies who have invested in BO Platform with Universe, Webi and were using Xcelcius.
They said the Dashboard Tool will be Design Studio. Then the design studio does not support many stuff with Universe.
Also for Lumira they said its a visualization, dashboard tool like tableau, qlikview. Atleast complete the basic functionality of competitor products when using against standard RDBMS.
Coming to Webintelligence which has superb aggregation engine toolset when reporting against RDBMS. Why cant they put have simple dashboard like capabilities in Webi UI related to Input Controls with simple modifications.
More Input Controls: Design more input controls based on the list currently available within Dashboard 4.0. Web Intelligence has a pretty useful list already, but a few more would go a long way.
Free Form placement of Input controls: I should be able to place them anywhere on the reporting canvas. Atleast at the top of the report it will give a Dashboard feel. If i place on the left side i should be able to give a look and feel of the Xcelcius based dashboards.
Input controls that restrict other input controls: This will add a cascading effect to the input controls so that the pick list in one is filtered by values selected in another.
Add dials and gauges to the charting engine: Add a few dials, stop lights and gauges to the Web Intelligence charting
engine.
Navigation links: Adding links within Web Intelligence that can point to other reporting tabs or objects on other reporting tabs within the same report. This would go a long way in devising guided navigation.
Format and choose the location of the report tab bar: This too should be free-form placement or at least able to move to the top of the canvas.
Full screen viewing: Set an option on the report that hides most of the tool bars and gives Webis canvas a full screen look and feel.
The ability to add scorecard formatting to tables: Mobile can generate a sparkle chart in a table, why cant Web Intelligence via the browser. Trend Arrows, signal bars and temp gauges in a table cell would be a nice addition as well.
Add trend line, basic R and PAL capabilities to the tool
Show hide objects based on input controls and formulas: This gives us the smoke a mirror effect that every great dashboard incorporates.
Add support for location intelligence: Adding support for shape files and google.com maps would be a nice touch.
