Hiding the Core Universe when universes are linked.

Does anyone know of a way to hide the core universe in the list of universes and still have access to the linked universe? When I deny access to the core universe and then use the linked universe I recieve an error.

A = Core
B = Linked Universe with A as the Core

Is I removed or deny access to A then B does not work.

Hi,

It’s impossible you must have rights on both universes.

Is there anyway to remove the core universe from the list of available universes?

I can only think of modifying Infoview via SDK.

Hi,

Maybe you can try this solution and let us know if it works for you.

Realize this is old topic, am having same issue with XI 3.1
We have Core folder for cores, we dont’ want user to see them in universe list.
We have several reporting universe folders that are derived universes that link to cores.
If we deny view on the Core folder, the users cannot open the derived (they cannot find the links).
Any ideas? right now we rename them so they appear on bottom. Solution from other post below, but does not work.

It is possible to do if you have your universe folders set up correctly.

Create 2 folders under universes. Store the public universes in one folder (Pub Unv Folder). In the other (Restricted Unv Folder) store the universe you want restricted to refresh only.

On the normal refresh Group take a way view access from the 'Restricted Unv Folder'. Leave on the other rights to access the folder etc as they need this to refresh.

Now users can refresh but not create as they can never see the folder that the restricted universe is in.

Thanks!
