HELP: UNIVERSE OVERRIDE

PLEASE HELP ASAP:
I have been working for about 1 1/2 months on renaming and defining our universe. I kept this version of the universe in my local universe folder. When I opened the universe in question in Designer today I got a message that the temp. file could not be found (this was when I opened it from the recently used files list). I then opened the universe from the UNIVERSE folder and when I did I saw that all of my changes had been overrided by the universe that currently exists in the repository. HOW DID THIS HAPPEN?! It says the file was updated yesterday at 2:39 p.m… At that time I was in Business Objects printing and refreshing reports but this has NEVER had any affect on my universe. Almost two months of work is gone, can anyone explain why??? Is there anyway to find my old universe again. I am desperate!!!

Hi Michele,
Bummer!

  1. If someone else has upgraded the universe: when you were running reports, Bus Obj would check to see if you had the latest copy. If not, it would automatically download the latest version to your cpu, overriding your version. This is a settable option btw. 2) Check your folders. I believe Bus Obj usually puts the ‘production’ universe into c:\BusinessObjects\Universe\Universe and often the developmental universe is stored in c:\BusinessObjects\Universe. 3) Sorry, but regular backups?
    Here’s hoping you find it!
