I am having some confusion regarding the price rates for the book of cindi howson “The Complete Reference: Business Objects XI” . The cost of this book(Indian edition) is Rs. 550 whereas the imported edition of the same book costs Rs. 2000. Now i am confused as to which book should i go for…Indian one or the imported one since both the books are one and the same.
You may need to explain the cause of your dilema a little more. I may be missing something.
If the books truly are the same, buy the cheaper one. From what little I know about this, the imported book price reflects the price in it’s original country, plus international shipping. The local version is the local price. The difference in the original pricing of both versions reflects variable costs like manufacturing costs, local shipping and reseller markups. Assuming licensing is all correct for both versions, the author will recieve the same compensation.
thank you for making the matter crystal clear. I agree with the points you mentioned plays an important role in the price factor. I will be going for the local version of the copy.
I am not saying that this one is, but it is a known problem in Asia that technical books have been duplicated without the publisher’s consent. So first thing first, you need to make sure it is not a bootleg copy before you buy it.
