Hadoop support for Windows

Currently, Data Services only supports Hadoop on Linux:

(Technical Manuals, page 1787)

Is there any particular reason why Data Services would not support windows-based Hadoop? Apache Hadoop 2.2.0 now officially supports Windows and HortonWorks has had a Windows-based Hadoop version for a while now.

I am referring to 4.2 Supported Platforms and they support only Hadoop 1.0.4.

4.1 supports a version - 0.20.203

Maybe that is the reason?

Have you tried the Hive ODBC Driver for HDP 2.1 (v1.4.5)?

Yes I have - it works, sort of. For some reason, it is not showing the column names of the Hive tables but naming them manually in the Query Task “fixes” that. And the performance isn’t great either, all in all it’s a little “so-so” at the moment.
