I have been working on a report for a few days but at one item I got stuck. I have a table that consists of project codes and worktypes (see attachment). As you see some projects codes can have more than one worktype. I want to group the work types into either group “Rockdumping” or group “Various”. The criteria for this is that all project codes that has “rockdumping” must be grouped in “Rockdumping” and project codes that do not have rockdumping as worktype must be grouped in “Various”. The project codes that have more than one worktypes of which “Rockdumping” is one of the worktype, must be grouped in “Rockdumping”. Can someone tell me how to realize this in Business Objects 6.1?
Using your excel spreadsheeet as a data source I was able to create a group for Rockdumping and Various.
I first sorted the Project Code “A-Z” which forced all multiples to be together.
After sorting I created a Group on Workgroup and added Rockdumping as my first group. I selected Rockdumping and added it to the new group. I then placed the new group object as the third column in the report.
Because of the sort, I was able to see that Project Code “036-10040” “Outfall & Landfall Dredging Works” was shared with Rockdumping. I added it to the Rockdumping group. Everything else is still in various.
There may be others that are shared with Rockdumping but the theory works, if I have understood you correctly.
I have attached a spreadsheet with my results. Is this what you need?
EDIT added********
I just noticed that Project Code 360-10037 is shared with Rockdumping and has a total of four (4) Worktypes. Should they all be grouped into the “New Workgroup”?
I think the final solution will be two new objects. One that groups the “obvious” choices and another object with an “IF” statement that builds the final groups. Proposal Department Summary Offshore 2010-3 (RB).xls (14.0 KB)
