Group Customizations No Longer Being Inherited

We are presently on 4.3 SP03 Patch 8 and are planning an upgrade to 4.3 SP04 Patch 7 which I have successfully installed on a test system. Now for configuration and validation.

In our current production system we restrict the types of Data Sources upon which Web Intelligence reports can be built by unchecking the unwanted ones as seen below.

Those settings are inherited by the users within the individual groups within Departmental Groups. To be clear, each sub-group within Department Groups has all of the Data Sources checked. And yet the users within those sub-groups do not have the Data Sources that are unchecked at the Departmental Group level available when selecting a Data Source for a new WebI query.

In our upgraded test system it seems that those Customization at the Departmental Group are not being inherited. I get all the Data Sources.

As I was writing this up I thought of something else to check.

In our security model, you have to be a member of a group we call WebI Editors to be able to create a WebI report.

I decided to check the Customization related to the Data Sources for the WebI Editors group. All the Data Source checkboxes were checked…

I unchecked the unwanted ones…

And things are working as expected.

The takeaway is that it seems the intersection of groups is being handled differently in 4.3 SP04 Patch 7 that it was in 4.3 SP03 Patch 8 because my WebI Editor group in my production system has all those Data Sources boxes checked and they are not all available when create a new WebI report.

Just a small note:
we quickly updated SP04 to Patch 8 (+HF1) because of this annoying bug:
3506055 - Report History Auto-Refresh feature does not refresh as expected in BI launchpad

Just to understand, When you have an user in 2 groups and have diferent personalization, which one win? more restricted or more permissed?

I guess more permissive was winning in this case.
