generating description of objects from the database

Hi All,

Is there an automated way to populate the descriptions of objects Universe? I have all the data in a database. And want to have the fields in the database automatically to be filled in the descriptions.

Not directly.

But if you can write a bit of SQL to get them out into, say, a csv file, you can use this utility from BOB’s Downloads.

How do you have the descriptions in DB. If they are in comments of DB columns then you can look at the external strategies as given in Chap 7 of BusinessObjects XI: The Complete Reference by Cindi Howson .

I didnt try this myself but should work from User tables from DB if you are using Oracle.
