FTP from Bo XI 3.1 SP2

I am trying to set up a csv scheduled report to go to ftp, however I am receiving the following error:

connection error. [Timed out reading data from FTP server.]: [CrystalEnterprise.Ftp]

The settings I am using are:
Host: \IP\Direcotry\Subdirectory
Port:21
Username and password are correct, but password does have a ‘$’ in it.

Will fail with same error whether I use automatic or specific name. I have also tried excel and it also fails. It also fails if I move the \Directory\Subdirectory to the Directory box

I have removed the \before the IP address and I get the following error:
connection error. [Timed out reading data from FTP server.]: [CrystalEnterprise.Ftp]

I can connect through ftp successfully from the business objects server and can telnet to the IP on port 21. :hb:

Does anyone have any suggestions?! I appreciate any help!

Hi All-

I’m beginning to think it has something to do with active/passive ftp? When i do an ls from the business object server while connected to ftp server, the ftp server times out.

Does anyone know what business objects uses - passive or active? I was reading that it is passive, so does that mean I need to have the ftp server open passive ports?

thanks for any help…

Hi Melissa,

I’m running into the same problem, and I have the same suspicion that it’s a problem with the FTP server only accepting passive connections.

Have you found anything more out about this problem?

Best,
Cassidy

Were you all able to resolve this issue? I too am experiencing the issue after upgrading to version 3.1 SP6.
