FRM 00008 error when importing universe

Everyone,

I have a universe that was created in 6.5. I changed the connection to shared, saved it for all users, and then opened the universe in XI Release 1.

Once opened, I changed the connection to secured and exported to my CMS. In fact, I have re-exported the universe several times today as I have made a few minor tweaks to objects.

I have verified that the universe is in the CMS. I am able to create queries against it with Webi without any problems.

Now, when I try to open the universe or re-import the universe, I receive the follow message:

You are not authorized to use this document (FRM 00008)

Details: The universe could not be found in the Central Management Server. Possible causes include:

  1. The universe may have been deleted from the CMS
  2. You may not have access rights to view the universe
  3. The CMS may be unavailable

:hb:

I did verify that the universe has not been deleted from the CMS. As I said earlier, I can create queries without any problems. I verified my rights in CMS and see that I have full control over the universe. I know the CMS is available or I would have a lot of angry clients screaming at me.

I still have my original 6.5 version that I could re-import into XI. But, I will then lose my tweaks that I made this morning.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Did you try to save the universe using “save for all users”. and then export it.

You can not save a universe with “Save for all users” with a secured connection and you can not export a universe into the repository unless you have a secured connection.

So is there really no way around - if you only have the .unv files ?

What about using hex editer ?

…just looking with notepad shows:

a VERSION Þ
Version 551.4 " Process Universe for VPE 5.5 SP1.4 ‘Version 551.4’ OBJEC1F8f"

…does this make any sence ?

What I have to do is export the universe into 6.5. Then, I use the import wizard to migrate the universe over to my XI environment.

The only reason that I was creating the universe in 6.5 is that I could make my changes and then see the impact of the changes in Full Client before I exported the universe into the repository.

Once we move to R2, I will be able to see my changes without exporting the universe since R2 has the Desktop Intelligence product.

This means that there is no way I can open an old .unv file from another persons computer ?
(without using export or save as “for all users” )

Talked to BO.

Only way around is
Use BO 6.5.1…
Start Designer
Login as superuser

…u should be able to open the .unv files now.

But the person which created, or holds the .unv files must use the option “save for all users”.
