Freshly installed CMS can't start - Missing SIA in CCM

Hi,
I’m trying a fresh BI Platform 4.0 system on a Windows Server 2003 64bit remote host. At the end of the installation the newly created CMS is not able to start. This the setupengine.log output at the current status:

I’m my opinion the start of a newly installed CMS should be almost immediate. I can’t figure out what is causing this problem. Could you help me?

Thank you very much

Happened with me too while I was getting on with our sandbox install, It will wait for around 1200 seconds and then will move on to the next step, not sure why this happens though.

once the installation is complete, you should be able to to start the CMS via CCM.

It’s the second time I try the install.
The first time the same problem happened and I wasn’t able to start the CMS from the CCM because there wasn’t a working sia node.

In the attachment you can find the actual screen of my CCM

As per the screenshot, I am not able to see a SIA configured at all for the instance, there has to be a SIA in order for your to configure a CMS and run it…!!

Anything else you foiund in the setupengine.log regarding the SIA configuration during the install??? Can you find similar entries in your log related to SIA -

Yes, I know that there has to be a properly configured SIA for the BI Platform.

Here is the log for sia configuration:

10:36:19.708 | Property: platform.services.smartservers.sia.props-4.0-core$MasterCmsPort = 6400

But I’m not able to find anything about the activation

Even I try to create a new SIA from the CCM using the temporary CMS option I get an error and judging from the log the system is not able to recognize the CMS

I’m encountering the same issue now, trying to install a clean, new BI 4.0 on a Windows 2008 server.
Did you ever manage to resolve this?

Should I hit Cancel on the installation? Kill the process?

[Update]: I got to the office this morning to find that after attmepting to log in to the CMS fo the 40th time (after 1200 seconds), it gave up, and proceded with the installation, which completed 30 minutes later.

Hello

I have exactly the same problem with the same log entries. And after 30 mins, the installation finishes but the SIA doesn’t want to start. And no log is written is logging dir.

Did you find a solution ? I’m stuck.

Thanks

Hi!

How did you resolve this problem?
I’m having the same issue on a Windows Server 2003 server here with a fresh SAP BI 4.0 SP2 installation.

ArnoR (BOB member since 2011-12-19)

I found the solution to this. I was running into the same problem. However, even after being able to view the SIA, I still couldn’t launch the CMS.

So if you anyone gets this resolved, I simply request that they help me get my BOXI 4.0 implementation to work

The trick is to use a different database server than MySQL. Also, make sure you run your executable as an administrator if you are on a Virtual Machine or something.

Hope that helps!
