Formatting data at Universe Level

Hi All

I have an Object at Universe level.

InvoiceDate (its type Character) and shows date in format yyyy.mm.dd

How do I format it so its dd/mm/yyyyy as I want it to use it as a Report Prompt. Have tried amending type to date but it make ALL the InvoiceDate dates to 01/01/01
