Forecasting of year end results.

Can anyone shed some light on this:

I have data for the first 10 months of the year and want to use this data to project the results for the last two months. And then I want to represent it as a graph.

The results of the query are like:

JANUARY 145 739.10
FEBRUARY 136 941.38
MARCH 165 357.80
APRIL 232 360.60
MAY 178 537.56
JUNE 159 545.43
JULY 202 950.69
AUGUST 326 931.72
SEPTEMBER 168 947.35
OCTOBER 84 730.62

So I would like to be able to predict November and December based on the average monthly rate. And then draw a chart.

I have tried many ugly tricks but none seem to work very well.

Any ideas?

Yeah, use Excel…

I know this is the most ugly trick, but Excel is more predestined for that kind of job. Just export the data you have and add your forecast formula
for November an December…

Or, you may want to add a table in your database, with real results where available
and forecast where results not yet available, then base your report on this table.
Just if you really like to work hard :-).

Hello,

there is a sample report “TrendAnalysis.rep” available a BO support. You might want to take a look at it.

Glenn,

no idea. Just got it from one of our consultants. I assumed it was from BO support. I’m mailing this report to you. If anyone else is interested, please mail me at harri.kinnunen@enator.fi.

Where exactly is this report that you are talking about? I am very interested.

Thanks

If you are still talking about the “linear trend analysis” report, this is (c) by me. I posted it to this list some time ago, and, as well to BusinessObjects.

Walter.

Walter,

taking a look at the document properties shows it’s by you. I should have taken that look earlier …

Ok, can I mail it to those requesting it? Or, better yet, is it available for download somewhere?

Sorry about the almost-copyright-infingement.
