BusinessObjects Board

Folder rights

Hi,

I have an issue in giving permission on a particular folder to one of the User.

I created a User called User1

I created a group called User1Group and assigned User1 to it.

Then I have a folder under the root folder called Country.(The Public Folders has many other Folders)

Now the issue is If i Give folder rights to the User1Group on All Folders(i.e. at the root level) he is able to see all the folders under the Public Folders but I want the User to see only Country Folder.

If I give folder rights at the Country Folders Level he is not able to see the Public folder at all.

So…can you help me with this Query?

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

Is it that you just want User1Group / User1 to View only the folder named ‘Country’ and no other folder under Public Folders ?

Can you confirm you are running XI3?

This post will help you …

Hi All,

Thanks for your replies…I got the solution for this…We need to go and uncheck the inheritance for each and every folder under the root folder which we dont want to see…and for the folders which we want to see we have to check it…

I have one more doubt…When i try to access Designer using the newly created User i get an Error Message “You are not authorized to login” where do we have to give rights so that he can login through designer?

I am new to CMC, so please excuse me if my doubts are silly.

Thanks,

Hi,

Try giving following security -

  1. Root Folder:
    Give User1GroupView Objects” right.
Also, Give Everyone group “View Objects” right.

  2. Country Folder:
    Give User1GroupFull Control” right.
And, Give Everyone group “No Access” right.

Cheers!
Sumeet
