Firms to assist in Business Objects Suite

Hello everyone,

Has anyone heard or know about a company called Theoris? We’ve heard about them and wonder if they can provide help on the following issues.

We are a company who have signed on to use the SAP BOXIR3.1 suite.

Since our implementation we have had no luck with the problems that arise from the SAP integration between BW/Bex/Universe/Webi.

Performance problems are the biggest issue we have had, with query lengths running very high. Because we use SAP and our backend BW system is based off the SAP solution we’ve found significant problems especially since we are forced to use OLAP universes and cannot store or retrieve data in a relational method.

We’ve been in touch with SAP and talked to their services, product group, etc… And they have no idea how to help us with our performance issues. Is there anyone out there who knows how to get around performance issues and provide guidance on this subject? Is there any firm or group who has a high rate of success in resolving these types of issues?

Anything will help.

Thanks,

Rasesh

I don’t know who you have talked to, but if you contact SAP BusinessObjects Client Service, they should be able to help you resolving your problem.

There is no issue that cannot be resolved. The question is how much you can afford.

I didn’t want to bring up how me we can afford.

However we spoke to the product line director, the professional services director, and a couple others all on the same call…and they didn’t provide a solution. Except they suggested they come back out and re-audit us and expect us to pay for the exact same services we already had them try.

Thanks

Any other firms anyone can think of? Theoris?

I worked for Theoris in the past and at that time (5+ years ago) they were not an SAP shop. I don’t know if that has changed in the meantime…They were a Business Objects partner at the time. I don’t believe they currently are a partner.

I would suggest that you find a consultant or consulting firm that has knowledge on both SAP and BOBJ. Someone with that background would certainly be the appropriate resource for what you are looking for.

Another option might be for you to reach out to your local user group and see if any other companies are having the same issues as you are having. I know that we have at least one company in our area that has both.

I believe that the Pittsburgh group found that they have several shops who have both technologies.

Even if another company can’t help you with the challenge, perhaps they can suggest a resource that would be experienced in both products.

Let me know if I can help you with anything else!

That’s odd. I know people at SAP (ex BusinessObjects employees) that are very knowledgeable in these matters. (BOBJ performance, WebI over BW/BEx etc). These are based in Europe though, not the USA but they do work all over the globe really.

Drop me an email otherwise.

I can only second ErikR, SAP has people with expert knowledge on performance issues when integrating BusinessObjects (e.g. OLAP universes) with SAP BW. Of course it might be a matter of cost, if your company cannot - for whatever reasons - hire SAP consulting services.

You should ensure though to be on the most current EHP and SP for SAP BW/Netweaver (7.01+) and BOE XI R3.2 :!:

Thanks for the input everyone. I have much more information meant to stay offline, cost is not an issue for us. However the services we rendered initially to help were worthless, it yielded no gains.

We’re still working with them and waiting for them to come back with a solution or plan that provides more merit.

Thanks,

Rasesh
